Whether you're just starting out or sorting a deposit, a ticket, or your account —
the answers are below, grouped by topic. And when that's not enough,
get in touch and we'll get back to you.
Getting started
From first open to a new chat — in three steps.
offline gets you out and among real people. Here's the whole loop, from finding
an event to connecting with someone you actually met.
1
Find an event — or create your own
On the live map you can see what's happening around you tonight and this week.
Join with one tap. Nothing fits? Create your own event and invite people.
2
Show up and confirm attendance
On site you check in with one tap — GPS only confirms you're actually at the
venue (about 200 m). No tracking, just confirmation.
3
After the event, swipe — and open a chat
Once it's over you can swipe the people who were there with you. A mutual yes
opens a chat. That's the only path to messages — no cold DMs to strangers.
Do I have to create an event to take part?
No. Just open the map, find an event that catches your eye, and join. Creating
your own events is an extra option, not a requirement.
How do I connect with someone after an event?
Once your attendance is confirmed, after the event you'll see the people who
were there with you. You can swipe them, and a mutual yes opens a direct chat.
There's no other route to DMs — that's what keeps messages real and free of cold
outreach.
Events & deposits
A deposit keeps the room real — and it comes back to you.
Here's the whole logic of money in offline: a small deposit that guarantees people
actually show up, and tickets we don't take a cent of.
Private events
A €4 refundable deposit — show up and get it back
Private events take a small €4 refundable deposit. Show up and
confirm attendance and it comes straight back. Leave early and you get a partial
refund according to the rules. Some private events are completely free — no deposit
at all.
Do I get my deposit back?
Yes. When you show up and confirm attendance, the €4 deposit comes straight back.
If you leave the event early, you get a partial refund according to the rules. The
deposit is only there so that everyone who signed up has genuinely committed to
showing up.
How much does offline cost?
Public events are free for attendees. Private events take a €4 refundable deposit
(or are completely free, with no deposit). Public paid events have a ticket whose
price the organiser sets — offline takes 0 % commission, the
money goes straight to the organiser or venue.
What's the difference between private, public free, and paid events?
Private events take a €4 refundable deposit (or are free) and keep a smaller, more
committed group. Public free events are free for attendees. Public paid events have
a ticket priced by the organiser — and offline takes none of it.
Who gets the money from tickets?
The full ticket amount goes directly to the organiser or venue. offline charges no
commission — not a single euro flows through our system.
Safety & privacy
Trust is in the architecture — not glued on afterwards.
Meeting people in real life demands trust that's built into the foundation.
Here's the quick overview — we go into detail on the Safety page.
Women-only events
Gender is confirmed at sign-up, and these events are completely invisible to everyone else.
GPS only confirms attendance (~200 m)
Your location is read just once, at check-in. No background tracking, ever.
Encrypted direct messages
Direct messages are end-to-end encrypted. Not even offline can read them — the key never leaves your phone.
18+ events are opt-in and age-gated
Hidden by default, they only appear if you turn them on yourself. Accounts under 18 never see them.
Report and block anyone
Report any user or event, and block anyone instantly. Real moderation backs it up.
Your data is yours — and we never touch your money.
Two things everyone wants to know: what happens to your data, and where the money
flows. Here are both answers.
Export and delete — one flow each
Right inside the app settings you can download everything offline
holds about you, and through that same flow delete your account and all your data.
That's what GDPR requires — and how we've built it.
Payments and payouts run through Stripe and Stripe Connect — they
handle card security and business verification. offline never holds your money; it
goes straight to the organiser or venue.
How do I cancel my account?
In the app settings you'll find the option to delete your account. This removes your
data — in line with GDPR. Before deleting, you can download everything offline holds
about you with one tap.
Does offline hold my money?
No. Payments and payouts run through Stripe and Stripe Connect. Not a single euro
flows through our system — the money goes directly to the organiser or venue.
Can I download my data?
Yes. In the app settings you can export everything offline holds about you with one
tap.
