Preface

For 3,00,000 years, humans thrived through one simple innovation: we gathered. Around fires, beneath stars, in great halls – we found ways to be together. We shared stories, broke bread, and built the foundations of everything we now call civilization. We've come impossibly far. Our ancestors would marvel at our cities of glass and steel, at the rockets that will take us to mars, and at the pocket-sized devices that connect us to the world.

But we lost something fundamental: We stopped gathering. We lost the warmth of a shared laugh. The irreplaceable magic of being truly present, together, in the same physical space. The average millennial now has three times fewer close friends than their parents did. We've mastered the art of being alone together. We've built ourselves digital cages of infinite scroll and algorithmic feeds, mistaking likes for love and followers for friendship. Most of social media has turned into just smart people paying beautiful people to promote stuff to insecure people.

In the early 90s, sociologist Ray Oldenburg coined the term “The Third Place.” A third place is a familiar public spot where you regularly connect with others known and unknown, over a shared interest or activity. "What suburbia cries for," Oldenburg wrote, “are the means for people to gather easily, inexpensively, regularly, and pleasurably—a ‘place on the corner’.” We need these third places now more than ever. The cringe singles mixers and the forced networking events ain’t it. A legend once said, “networking is like a fart. if you have to force it, it's probably shit.”

The unavailability of these third places is not an infrastructure problem. Our cities are already filled with extraordinary people and experiences waiting to be discovered. Every coffee shop can become a town square. Every park picnic can become a village gathering. Every poetry night can become a tribal bonfire. All these pieces of magic exist – they're just waiting for the right moment of serendipity. We're here to curate that serendipity.

Be Offline

Be Offline is where you find your people through shared experiences. Our app lets you discover and book everything from intimate experiences perfect for dates or small friend groups to vibrant community gatherings where you'll meet new people who match your vibe. You can also connect with verified people interested in similar experiences on the app and book experiences with them. At events, our IRL matching makes sure there's no awkward introductions and intimidating big groups, just naturally flowing conversations. And these connections continue in the app even after the event ends. Behind every great experience are the curators and venues who create magic in the city – we give them the platform they deserve with powerful tools to manage bookings, communicate with guests, and build their brand, all while maintaining their unique vibe and quality.

So how exactly do we bring this vision to life? Let's dive in.

First, we partner with the village elders: the passionate community curators and venues who already create magic in the city. These people are the best in the game, but they struggle with visibility, tools, and sustainability. We give them a complete platform where they can manage their guest lists, have communication channels for every experience and have full control over their experiences. With us, they can become a brand people trust. They enjoy the network effects benefits, marketing and growth opportunities, dead time monetisation and an elevated experience. We give them the tech and support they deserve, so they can do what they do best: creating moments that matter. We see ourselves as the Airbnb for hyperlocal experiences.

This is one side of the equation. Now let’s talk about the other side of the equation: The users.

You open the app, you’ll see curated experiences in your city, with detailed ratings and reviews and media so you can choose what fits best for you. Don’t want to go alone? You can choose to connect with people interested in similar experiences on the app and talk to them and book experiences with them. We take women's safety very seriously, so all the men you would connect with on the app are Govt ID verified. Once you book an experience, you’ll have access to the direct communication channel with the host so you have all the updates you need from the host directly.

At the event, our IRL matching feature will make sure you connect with exactly the kinda people you want. You’ll be matched in 1:1s or small groups of 3-4 based on your preferences about gender and what you want, be it something romantic or platonic or just cool conversations. No awkward introductions, no forced networking, just organic conversations that flow naturally. You’ll also be able to click pictures and add to the experience album which everyone at the event or people in your group will be able to access.

After a great experience, the event will end, but you'll have your people. In the app, you'll be able to chat with the people you matched, and even plan experiences together. you will also be able to connect with other people from the event, if they also want to. You can also book smaller, more intimate experiences for small groups or couples or for yourself. We have amazing partners for these from the hidden small gems in the city to the Airbnb like hosts who let you have a great experience at their beautiful places.

We built the platform to adapt to people’s needs. If you don’t want to go to an experience alone and connect to verified people who match your vibe, You can find other regular experience enjoyers and send them connection requests, chat with them and book experiences together. You’re someone who just wants to book an experience? Simpler onboarding for you and your profile won’t be shown to others and you’ll be able to book experiences and meet amazing people there. You just want to go on an intimate date or an outing with your friends? You’ll be able to book the small experiences which are much more than just the regular coffee dates. And even if you have your private fun event going on already, you can make it more fun by using our IRL matching feature to make it more exciting.

We want to be the platform that people think of whenever they want to make their day a little more extraordinary, whenever they want to meet new people, whenever they crave the irreplaceable joy of real-world connection.

Are you winning, son?

Damn right we are.

  • Market Timing: we’re in the right market at the right time. The experience economy is exploding. Bumble’s share price being 95% down from 2021 tells us everything we need to know about the state of dating apps. Amid the post-pandemic digital fatigue and the loneliness epidemic, being offline is the new cool. We are heading into a post-dating apps, post-brainrot era where authentic IRL experiences are becoming a status signal. While travel and big one-off experiences are being explored by a lot of companies, hyperlocal experiences are still underserved. A lot of great offline communities, community curators and venues are coming up, but they’re scattered. Some are on WhatsApp, some have their own basic websites, some list themselves on big platforms and get buried under other experiences. We are incentivising them to partner with us, and give them the platform they want and deserve.

  • Scalable Approach: Our asset-light, curator-first, quality-focused approach helps us win. Instead of focusing on single events, we partner with the best community curators and venues. This way we can not only have a consistent quality, but it also allows us easy scalability. If we go to a new city, we will just have to partner with the top ten community curators and venues in the city and we’ll be good to go. And because we ourselves are not doing the experiences and only partnering and enhancing them, it makes us liability-free. And giving users the transparency and ability to rate and review the experiences helps us in making sure the experiences are upto our quality standards, so users trust our brand.

  • People-First Platform: We're keeping people at the centre of it. It's not just about experiences, it's about the people you meet. We're making sure that even after an experience ends, the people you meet stay with you on the app. While we let people connect even before experiences and book experiences together, we also know how it might go wrong, so we make sure everyone doesn't get it. To send or accept a connection request, every man needs to not only be govt ID verified but also they must have attended one or more experiences. It ensures the women on the app feel safe and have high quality interactions with real people who go to experiences. And we have already talked about adaptability and how the platform can be whatever you want it to be.

  • Brand Experience: We're together with the user at every step of their journey. It not only makes their experience better, but also makes the user associate the experiences with us. Right now, if you book an event from any event booking platform, you don’t necessarily associate it with them. You won’t praise them if the experience was good, nor will you curse them if it wasn’t good. But because we are at the front, users associate the experiences with us. This helps us create a premium brand and have that trust which also helps our partners.

We can keep going, but you get the point. We’ve got great USPs. Once we reach to a decent number of users, which we will soon, acquiring users and partners becomes easier. Partners will go where people are. People will go where other people and experiences and venues are. And being this end-to-end ecosystem will make it easier to scale.

The past, the present and the future

We are a small team of less than ten people. We have been building and iterating over this for over a year now. We made MVPs and tested them. We got the feedback and iterated. We partnered with existing experiences, we partnered with curators and venues, we did our own experiences and then after doing this over and over again, we reached to the current product. At this point, we can confidently say we know what works. We even tested individual features like IRL matching at multiple existing experiences. Nothing in the product is based on just ideas and hunches, every bit is built over user feedback and genuine insights from our partners and users.

We're confident in our product because our partners and users love our experiences. Building this end-to-end platform with a small team wasn't easy, but our shared vision made it possible. Most team members built this alongside full-time jobs or college, allowing us to develop and validate our product without external funding. We wanted absolute certainty before seeking any investment or getting the product out. And now with the latest version of the product in our hands and all the love we're getting from our users and partners, we have that confidence.

Our growth strategy is built on efficiency. We partner with curators who already have audiences, naturally creating our initial user base. From there, we benefit from natural word-of-mouth as people share their experiences online and offline. Our platform has built-in network effects – partners attract users, users attract more partners. We are also in the space where Instagram content and marketing strategy will work really well. Strategic referral programs like bring a friend, get your next experience free, and first-timer discounts fuel a growth engine that doesn't rely on excessive spending.

Monetization also follows a capital-efficient model with multiple revenue streams. We take a commission from experiences booked through our platform. Premium user subscriptions unlock exclusive experiences, discounts, and expanded connection options. Curators and venues can purchase enhanced visibility. Brand sponsorships for experiences create additional revenue. We can make our event management and matching features available as standalone products. And our platform is perfectly positioned for B2B offerings in future, packaging experiences for corporate teams seeking accessible team-building alternatives to expensive retreats. With minimal operational costs, profitability becomes achievable quickly, supporting our expansion first across India and eventually globally.

With a huge market that’s growing rapidly, a team with genuine understanding of the market and aligned at the level of vision and product, a product that mogs the competition, and good early traction, we couldn’t have asked for a better start. We’re starting from Bengaluru, with the goal of scaling in all major cities in India and then go global. We're gearing up for our app launch. Join us in this journey and let’s Be Offline.

We’d love to hear from you, whether you’re a potential user, partner, investor, or someone cheering for us from sidelines.
